An Enemy of the People – Greek National Theater

A bold reinterpretation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic, An Enemy of the People premiered on February 26, 2025, at the National Theatre of Greece — REX, Katina Paxinou Stage — as part of the Experimental Stage for Emerging Artists.

Adapted and directed by Konstantinos Vasilakopoulos, the production transports Ibsen’s timeless themes into present-day Greece, examining the political machinery behind truth suppression, the fragility of justice, and the personal cost of resistance.

Set in a small Greek town plagued by environmental pollution from a powerful waste oil company (S Oil), the play unfolds as the local Mayor confronts a failing legal system, corrupt media, and a disoriented public. Despite undeniable scientific evidence and her call for civic action, institutional silence and systemic manipulation begin to erode both her credibility and her fight for justice.

This version of An Enemy of the People questions the ethics of information, the decay of public trust, and the loneliness of standing up to power. It asks: When the truth is buried, can hope still grow?

As part of this production, I created the video design, photographed the performance, and produced the promotional imagery, crafting a visual world that supports the narrative tension between exposure and concealment.
